A total of ten teams competed for the titles of Best Ribs in Kingston and twelve teams competed Best Ribs and Best Pulled Pork in the Kawarthas.
Together both events raised over $1000 dollars for charity this year for Joe’s MILL in Kingston and Yes Shelter for Youth and Families in Peterborough.
Kingston BBQ Competition
Our season started in Kingston on July 6th with ?? teams smoking up a storm cooking up St Louis Style ribs. Our charity BBQ raised $750 for Joe’s MILL Music Instrument Lending Library and we enjoyed live music performed by musicians from Joe’s Mill.
This year our winner travelled all the way from New York State to claim the title of Best Ribs in Kingston, congratulations to Tricky Pig BBQ! They went home with a brand new Green Mountain Grills Pellet Smoker!

Kawartha BBQ Competition
The following weekend saw ten teams of plucky pitmasters putting their groovy grilling skills to the test. Most of the teams did pulled pork and every team cooked up some beautiful baby back ribs provided by Gilmours By the Bay in Belleville, a fantastic butcher which we highly recommend – stop by their newest location at 652 Dundas Street East in Belleville (just down the street from our Belleville location) for their grand opening July 20th!
Music was provided by Peterborough locals folk/roots band Cellar Door and the kids enjoyed a bouncy castle while our team of fantastic judges feasted on the scrumptious fare.
