Katie is Kingston’s new Service Coordinator. She was born and raised in Kingston, ON, attended KCVI, and then studied visual arts at Seneca College in Toronto. Katie volunteers her time for local theatre productions, designing costumes and working as Head of Wardrobe, sometimes alongside her partner Mitch – who does acting. Productions that she has worked on include, Romeo and Juliet, Merry Wives of Windsor, Young Frankenstein, and Village of Idiots. Katie and Mitch live in the heart of downtown Kingston in a small apartment with their two cats Jack and Gina. They love living in such an active community and spend much of their time at local festivals and city events.
Having just graduated from Algonquin Collage’s HRAC program in 2018. He grew up in Coburg Ontario, and learned about our company through the Coburg location. Chris wanted a change of scenery, applying to our Kingston office, and now lives in Sydenham – commuting to Kingston for the local Queen’s party culture and entertainment. Being accustomed to fishing and camping in Haliburton Ontario, Chris is very excited to find a new spot locally to enjoy his hobby.
Tristen is one of our installers at the Kingston store. He was born in Hanover Ontario and grew up in St. Thomas. He’s been working in the industry since finishing his program at Algonquin Collage, having been taught by some of the best wood and gas installers in Ontario. Tristen has been enjoying his move to Kingston, and has been spending as much time as he can seeing the sites and enjoying the local events. Always eager to do his part for the community, Tristen has even volunteered for BMO as their blue Bear mascot!
Jesse joined the Friendly Fires in the summer of 2018, he moved to Peterborough in 2016 to attend Fleming College from his native Napanee. When Jesse’s not working he enjoys the outdoors – swimming, hiking, going on long adventures, etc. He lives with his girlfriend and with his beagle, Lily, and cat, Penny. We’re happy to have Jesse aboard!
Havelock native Bailey joined the Friendly Fires team as an assistant installer in 2017. Currently studying for his G3, he’s known for his can-do attitude. When Bailey is not working he can be found enjoying outdoor motorsports like snowmobiling and dirt-biking or playing with his dog.
Friendly Fires is very excited that Tim Houle joined our team in 2015. He began his career in 1987 as a chimney sweep in Kincardine, Ontario on beautiful Lake Huron, not far from Owen Sound. Tim married his high school girlfriend, Lori, in 1990 and they have two lovely children, Matt and Sydney. In 2003, Tim moved closer to London, Ontario to become the in house Technical Support for Regency Fireplaces. Fireplace owners and technicians throughout North America would call Tim to help troubleshoot issues or problems. Then in 2006, Tim moved his family to Arthur, Ontario to join The Foundry as their in house technician. At The Foundry was the Ontario Factory Technical Representative for Enviro, Pacific Energy, Town and Country, Kozy Heat, RSF, ICC, Heartland Cookstoves, Piazzetti among other brands. Tim and Lori are excited to explore summer festivals and local pubs as new “Kingstonians”.
Scott joined the Friendly Fires fireplace team in Carleton Place in 2015. Scott was born and raised in Renfrew (ie – The Frew) and moved to Almonte when he met his wife Leisha in 2007. Scott attended Algonquin Collage as well as Hi Mark where he completed his gas technician course. When Scott is not at work, he enjoys relaxing with his wife and son (Vance) as well as reading up on the latest fireplace trends. Scott is WETT certified and G2 gas licensed technician.
Kevin was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley. He attended Algonquin College in Pembrooke at nigh and remains very close to his father. Some people describe Kevin as a workaholic. He’s always working either at Friendly Fires, at his home or at his father’s farm. When he is not working – he enjoys spending time with his children & wife (Jennifer), and likes to hunt and 4 wheel. Kevin’s been in the heating industry for over 17 years (WETT Certified and gas ticket) and joined the Friendly Fires Carleton Place team in 2015.
Born and raised in Belleville, Shaun moved to Toronto after high school to pursue Business Administration. From there, Shaun bounced around a little from Toronto to Mississauga to Brampton to Orangeville before finally moving back to the area in 2015. Shaun enjoys anything outdoors – including camping, fishing, hiking, and jogging. When not outdoors, he is either at work or at a music concert – another one of his passions.
Andrea was born and raised in Peterborough. Although she is new to the fireplace industry (joined Friendly Fires in 2013), she brings many years of customer service experience to our team. She is very excited to be a part of the Friendly Fires family and when she is not looking after our customers, she is looking after her dance students who want to learn the Moves Like Jagar. She is a dance instructor with her husband (Randy) of twenty years. She also loves to get her hands dirty in the garden and loves going to the mall with her daughter, Taylor. She also has a fur family ….Shania (the dog) along with Lilo & Stitch (the cats) and the smallest member of her fur family is Sierra the lop-eared rabbit. Sure hope Taylor doesn’t bring home any more animals…
Gilles thoroughly enjoys the peace & serenity of living in the countryside after having grown up in buzz of city life in Hamilton. Graduating from Mohawk College with his welding and G3 gasfitting certifications, Gilles has since gained significant field experience and has developed as a competent technician. Gilles decided to move to the area to be closer to family and he came highly recommended by his previous employer. Gilles has a generous personality, he is hard working and is well liked by his workmates. Gilles wife Michelle and his daughters Natasha and Kaylah are a top priority for Gilles. Gilles joined the Friendly Fires team in 2012 and spends his time in the field and also Managing and supporting our Kingston warehouse.
David was born in North York and has been a licensed gas & oil technician since 2002 (Durham College Graduate), and a licensed wood technician since 2009. David has worked at Friendly Fires as one of our technicians and resident ‘jokesters’ since 2007, and during his spare time, loves to ride four-wheeler’s, go fishing, play pool, and go camping.
Jeff grew up in Toronto and had brief stints in the Belleville area before making Madoc and Millbrook his permanent home. Jeff attended George Brown College where he received his G3, G2 and G1 gas fitter license. After doing commercial gas work for 10 years, he decided that fireplaces was his future. Jeff has been WETT certified for over 10 years, and during his almost 20 years at Friendly Fires, it is estimated that he has worked on over 10,000 fireplaces. Wow. In his spare time, when he is not living and breathing fireplaces, Jeff enjoys quiet time and travelling.
Bobby Orr (yes – this is his real name) was born in Belleville. A few years later, his family moved to Newcastle, and then he relocated to Fraserville once high school started. Bobby (and his family) have been in Fraserville ever since, and he lives here with his parents, sister and 2 dogs (pictures of Max and Zoey are located further in ‘Our Pets’ section). Bobby received his G3 gas fitter license at Durham College, and his G2 license at Fleming College. Bobby has worked at Friendly Fires since July 2009. His personal interests include being outdoors, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, dirt biking, and spending time with friends and family.
Kyle grew up in Unionville but attended Port Perry High School. After graduating from Durham College with his G2 gas fitter’s license in 2002, he attended Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough where he received his Parks & Recreation Certificate. Kyle has worked at Friendly Fires since 2010 – and is one of our resident full-time fireplace technicians. If there is a problem with a fireplace that can not be solved – Kyle is the man. In his spare time, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, three beautiful daughters, fixing small motors, and spending time at the cottage.
