Purpose:  The proof of fire (Low Limit Switch) monitors the temperature of exhaust gases and is designed to shut down the stove if the temperature drops below about 85º F degrees. If your pellet stove shuts down and displays a POF or #3 blinking light; that could be because one of your limit switches have shut the unit down. This could be the High Temp Thermodisc or the POF (Proof of Fire) Low Limit Thermodisc. The Low-Limit or Proof of Fire Thermodisc is mounted on the Combustion Blower Housing in all Pellet stove models from 2003 to present, and also the Multi-Fuel stove.
