This is a genuine HearthStone wood stove accessory. This HearthStone product ships new in original packaging.
PART DESCRIPTION: The HearthStone wood stove top thermometer allows a user to gauge the health of the fire. Think of it like an oven thermometer – it allows the wood burner to know how hot the wood stove actually is. Hearthstone designed this wood stove top thermometer specifically for their soap stone wood stoves.
PART NUMBER: 90-99120
Hearthstone 90-99120 INSTALL TIPS:
This wood stove top thermometer monitors soapstone temperature for optimal performance and long life. The optimal burn zone is indicated on the thermometer. Locate the soap stone thermometer on top of your soapstone stove in the center of the top stone. Soapstone stoves are engineered so that their ideal operating surface temperatures are less hot than steel or cast-iron. Sustained temperatures in excess of 600F will cause stones to crack and may damage stove components.
To Note: The thermometer will not register changes in temperature quickly due to the thickness and heat retention of soapstone. General guidelines for best performance:
- Below 200F (90C) Too cool; smoke and creosote
- 200 300F (90 150C) Efficient operation; low heat stored
- 300 500F (150 260C) More Efficient operation; high heat stored
- Above 600F (280C) Overheating stove; may crack soapstone.
These thermometers have larger bimetallic coils than other stove top thermometers.
