This is a genuine new Pacific Energy Side Insulation (set of two) for the Super Series of wood stoves and wood inserts.  This is a factory replacement part from Pacific Energy Fireplaces new in original packaging.  It includes the left and right ceramic insulation blankets

Purpose

Insulation located around the baffle area in wood burning appliances are designed to keep the heat inside the firebox to ensure a clean burn.  They also protect the top of the appliance from over heating.  They also ensure proper air flow inside the stove.  If they are deteriorating in any way, they should be replaced.  Typically these components need to be replaced every few years.

Installation Tips

You will need to remove the baffle pin located at the back inside wall of the stove.  Then raise one side of the baffle up above the side rails and the air tube at the back.  Be careful not to damage the baffle gasket when you are removing the baffle (the baffle gasket is the rectangular gasket that sits on top of the back rail).  Once you remove the baffle, you will need to remove the piece of insulation located behind the left and right side rails.  The side pieces of insulation need to go in before the baffle is put on top.

Remember to put the baffle gasket on before putting in the baffle and try not to tear the baffle gasket when you lower the baffle on top of it.  It will take some time and patience

Other Notes

Make sure you put in the baffle pin once everything is in place and the baffle gasket and the insulation pieces are replaced.  If the pin does not go in, something is not lined up correctly.
