This is the official OEM Vermont Casting Montpelier Top Baffle – this is not an aftermarket baffle as seen on some websites.  This is the genuine VC Montpelier replacement baffle from Vermont Castings that ships in original manufacturer packaging.

VC Part Number: 30004332 (same as part number 3000-4332)

Purpose:  The baffle is designed to keep the hot gas in the fire and it also adds air into the fire to ensure a clean, hot burn.  If the baffle is cracked or distorted make sure you replace it.  If you don’t you may run the risk of warping or cracking the stove.
